Bridget Mitchell, PE

Bridget Mitchell leads community assistance at Headwaters Economics’ FloodWise program that provides free technical assistance and research to reduce flood risk and strengthen communities.  Bridget’s experience as a lead engineer and supervisor on municipal flood prevention and mitigation projects gives her a unique insight into how communities can be better equipped to navigate flood work.

Bridget has more than 20 years of experience as a professional civil engineer supporting private and public organizations with permitting, design, planning, and construction service needs.  She became a Certified Floodplain Manager in 2016 and has worked as an engineering consultant in the states of Massachusetts, Hawaii, Colorado, and Montana.

In addition to her technical strengths in stormwater, watershed management, flood management, and stream restoration, Bridget excels at working collaboratively on local efforts. She has served on a volunteer basis for numerous stormwater and land management task forces, lending her expertise in drafting best practices, bylaws, and coordinating technical councils.

Bridget holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering degree and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree at Montana State University.  She is passionate about community assistance and using her experience as a civil and environmental engineer to help communities become better prepared for future floods and respond to past events.
