A note from our Director regarding COVID-19
We hope you and your family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors are safe and healthy.
Like many of you, our staff have settled into a new rhythm of balancing remote work, home-schooling children, following safety recommendations, and negotiating uncertainty.
We wanted to let you know that Headwaters Economics is focusing on research and tools that are especially relevant during this time, including assisting journalists with data visualizations and our community assistance tools, such as Populations at Risk. Another example, Neighborhoods at Risk, has already proven useful for informing a major public health initiative in Dearborn, Michigan, and will soon be available to every city and county in the nation.
Generate reports about Populations at Risk in your community.
Our work on local fiscal challenges and the ability of communities to plan for disasters has never been more relevant. Communities are facing the flood and wildfire season while navigating severe safety and travel restrictions. Our thoughts are with the dozens of community partners whom we have assisted as they improve safety by planning and improving policies in advance of disasters. For those communities facing multiple disasters at once, we hope that their hard work and planning efforts contribute to better outcomes.
During this period, the team at Headwaters Economics is committed to helping communities, our friends at state and federal agencies, and our partners in philanthropy as we respond together to COVID-19. In the coming days and weeks, we will keep you informed as we produce helpful research and update our tools. In the meantime, please reach out with any suggestions on how we can be helpful. We’re all in this together.
