DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY: 
The original CBI Protected Areas Database (PAD) was the product of a collaborative effort between the Conservation Biology Institute and World Wildlife Fund.  The dataset was created to provide natural resource managers with a spatially explicit digital dataset that can be used to assess the protection status of natural ecosystems and individual biodiversity elements.
