This map shows in dark green areas with low impacts from humans, and in red areas with high human impacts. The data were derived from Carlos Carroll's habitat effectiveness layer. In eastern Montana the data were obtained from the Wildlife Conservation Society's (WCS) "human footprint" data layer. Both Carroll's and WCS's layers incorporate human population pressure, land use and infrastructure.
